sparks
on the first day of my calculus class i was sitting outside the room waiting for the class before mine to be let out... as i was sitting there waiting, i overhead a conversation between 2 guys in my class... the first, a guy who looked no more than 19 or 20, was sipping from an energy drink. i wasn't paying much attention until i heard the kid start discussing alcohol content... slowly i realized that the drink in his hand wasn't an energy drink, but a "Budweiser Sparks" which is some sort of caffeinated alcoholic beverage in a can that looks like an energy drink. The kid was stoked on the fact that most teachers never realized he was "drinking" and just assumed it was an energy drink. then he went on to say that during longer lectures (which are 3 1/2 hours) he'll brink a six pack of them... and i thought about how sad it was that a kid so young was going through a six pack during class. i'm not living under a rock. college kids binge drink, that's not news... but right through class? last week this same kid showed up to class looking a little less than stellar. he disappeared for 15 or 20 minutes and when he returned he was staggering so much he nearly fell over before he reached his seat... i don't know the kid, i shouldn't care... but i worry for him...

f.y.i...
those beer/energy drinks have almost NO alcohol in them..
not that that makes it ok to drink them IN CLASS!! (jack-ass) but 6 of them probably have the same amount of alcohol in them as 1 beer..
xoxo
actually, it's 6-7% alcohol by volume, depending if you get sparks or "sparks plus" and an average can of beer is between 3-6%, so depending on the beer, one sparks has MORE alcohol than one beer. Budweiser and Coors, for example, have 5%...
