the other night i had to run to meijer to pick up some pirate pants for my costume... cruising the store for gift bags and other pre-party necessities, i came across this:

Arrrrrrgh! Were your other pirate pants in the laundry? Arrrrrrrrgh!
And Merry Christmas, matie, from the high seas of the Carribean...
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
Damn, Capt. Sparrow, you're fine!
With that said, I think it was last year (maybe the year before) that one of my neighbors had put up their Christmas decorations on their front steps (wrapping the railing in garland) and it wasn't even Thanksgiving yet. Didn't it used to be that the Christmas decorations didn't even show UP in the stores until Thanksgiving weekend? Now Christmas has not only snuck its way earlier into the calendar by eclipsing Thanksgiving but now it's showing up before Halloween? What's next, Christmas in July!?
Call me old fashioned. And Capt. Sparrow, you can just call me.
(Sorry, Johnny Depp makes one damn fine pirate!)
By the way, hearing about
"Meijers" brings back the good ol' days of living in Kalamazoo - and visiting my relatives that still reside there. You can't visit the folks in Kalamazoo without a trip to Meijers.
So I'm pulling out of the parking lot of the little strip mall where the Starbucks is and what to my wondering eyes did appear but holiday wreaths around every hanging lamp! WTF? How long have these been up? Halloween is barely over - our office still hasn't finished the leftover candy everyone brought in - and Thanksgiving is WEEKS away, not to mention Thanksgiving is still a month before Christmas even!
