I was bored out of my gourd tonight so I decided to take a trip to the Barnes and Noble, to read magazines and drink coffee. It's an old pastime of mine that I haven't done all that much lately. Anyway, after a couple hours of catching up on celebrity gossip and what's happening in the music world, I picked up
Heather Armstrong's new book "It Sucked and Then I Cried: How I Had a Baby, a Breakdown, and a Much Needed Margarita". It's about 240 some pages and I made it through 90+ before I decided to head home again. It's an easy read, but a really good read. I love Heather's style of writing. She's one of those people who knows how to tell a story, and tell it well, and tell it with appropriate humor and emotion. I literally cried and laughed out loud as I was reading. Literally. Anyhow, I'm on a budget, so sadly I won't be able to purchase the book anytime soon, but I'd be willing to bet I'll have it finished before the weekend's over if I make it back to a bookstore. And I'm betting I will...
Brad Warren apparently also has a new book out (Zen Wrapped in Karma Dipped in Chocolate: A Trip Through Death, Sex, Divorce, and Spiritual Celebrity in Search of the True Dharma) which sounds interesting but as I was flipping through it I was reminded about how much I am annoyed by his heavy use of post scripts (they can be as long as a page on their own - just write it into the passage, Brad!). Anyway, I'm sure I'll read it at some point... it's just not near the top of my list at the moment...

if you're interested, Brad Warner will be in Detroit on May 2-3, doing book signings and discussions. i totally agree with you on his use of postscripts.
